Dave Anderson began playing studying music at age five, learning the five string banjo from his father. Ever since then music has played a major part in his life. At age 13 he began learning the electric guitar and with in a few years began to play professionally on the local band circuit. After high school, Dave began to teach professionally and played in the St. louis based alt country group Caution Horse, sharing the stage with numerous bands including Wilco, Old 97s, Blue Mountain, and others.
In 1998 Dave began playing bluegrass and old time music with Greg Silsby and Aaron Muskopf and soon the project grew in to the award winning group Cumberland Gap Band. As the band bult up momentum, Dave left St. Louis to take on an apprenticeship building archt top guitars with Bill Moll of Moll Custom Instruments.
In 2002 Dave moved back to the St. Louis area to teach full time and began to play music in the local scene again. He soon landed a job repairing instruments for Fazios Frets and Friends in St. Louis, MO. Not long after Dave began to play the pedal steel when a friend of the family loaned him one to learn on. Dave studied for years taking the steel to gigs and practically anywhere he could to learn the art of pedal steel guitar.
Dave currently lives in St. Louis city with his wife Melissa and daughter Cecilia. Dave and Melissa currently play in the local original rock group Tenement Ruth as well as Rank Outsider Record's May Day Orchestra. Dave also plays with Kevin Buckley and Grace Basement, and from time to time plays and records with local bands Magnolia Summer, The Dock Ellis Band, and Old Lights. Dave also does product demos and endorses Eastwood Guitars and K-Line Guitars.
