Complete Guide To Overblowing
Intermediate to advanced level
In the last twenty years, overblowing has taken the harmonica world by storm while creating a new paradigm shift for the instrument. Overblow notes allow us to chromaticize the harmonica while adding on a completely new musical dimension. The most useful notes on the harmonica that can be overblown are found on holes one, four, five and six. Using the proper techniques, these holes can be overblown making the normal blow note pop up to a new note. Just like bent notes, these new notes are normally missing on a standard richter tuned diatonic harmonica. Some of these missing notes fit very well in the blues and many other genres of music. This lesson teaches you how to produce the overblows along with a number of exercises to help assimilate them into your playing.
